Aleema hopes judges will declare Imran’s punishments illegal

ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) – Aleema Khan, the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan, has expressed the hope that judges would show courage and declare the sentences handed down [to her brother] as illegal.

Speaking to the media outside the Supreme Court on Tuesday, she said she moved the Supreme Court regarding the May 9 case involving the PTI founder. Appeals have been scheduled for next week.

She said: “We pray that the judges find the courage to ensure justice is served and declare the punishments as unlawful.”

She, however, showed her disappointment for refusal of Islamabad High Court to hear the appeal in the Al-Qadir Trust case.

She added, “Chief Justice Sarfraz Dogar of the Islamabad High Court simply does not hear our appeal. Thankfully, the Supreme Court has given a date of August 19. FIRs were registered [against Imran Khan] based on false testimonies — those responsible for these false FIRs should be the ones in jail.”
