Taylor Swift announces ‘The Life of a Showgirl’ alongside Travis Kelce
In a preview of her upcoming interview on the “New Heights” podcast, Taylor Swift reveals her 12th studio album, “The Life of a Showgirl.”
Taylor Swift will soon make her podcasting debut on “New Heights” with her boyfriend, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, and his brother, Jason Kelce. It’s something of a culmination of Swift and Kelce’s two-year relationship saga β but how did they meet in the first place?
The answer to that is not exactly certain, but the breadcrumbs lead to a point of time between Swift’s Eras Tour shows at Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City in July 2023 and when the two made their relationship public three months later.
On July 8, 2023, Kelce attended the Eras Tour show at Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Chiefs, with a friendship bracelet he had made with his phone number on it.
“I was disappointed that she doesn’t talk before or after her shows because she has to save her voice for the 44 songs that she sings,” Kelce said on an episode of “New Heights” later that month. “So I was a little butthurt I didn’t get to hand her one of the bracelets I made for her.”
He went on to explain that many fans who attended the Eras Tour exchanged friendship bracelets during concerts. While Kelce said he received many such bracelets, he didn’t get to give Swift the one he had “with my number on it.”
“Your number as in 87 (Kelce’s number with the Chiefs) or your phone number?” Jason asked.
“You know which one,” Travis quipped.
That September, Swift made her first appearance at a Chiefs game, sitting in a suite with Kelce’s mother, Donna. In October, Swift and Kelce made their relationship official.
So how did Swift and Kelce get in contact after his failed attempt with the friendship bracelet?
In the December/January edition of the WSJ (Wall Street Journal) Magazine that year, Kelce revealed that he had some help.
“There were definitely people she knew that knew who I was, in her corner [who said]: ‘Yo! Did you know he was coming?’ I had somebody playing Cupid,” Kelce said.
So the investigation leads us to one conclusion. The two first met at some point in between late July, when the “New Heights” episode where Kelce made his intentions public aired, and late September, when Swift attended her first Chiefs game.
Perhaps it came during her two-week break in mid-August 2023 between six straight shows in Los Angeles and a four-show stop in Mexico City. Or perhaps it was after that, in a gap of about three and a half weeks between her last Mexico City show on Aug. 27 and the Chiefs game she attended a month later.
