More than 600 fake Labubu dolls have been seized by trading standards after a parent raised concerns.
The counterfeit products were confiscated from two businesses in Weston-super-Mare, North Somerset, after investigations found they posed a potential choking hazard to children.
Labubu dolls, made by Pop Mart, have become hugely popular worldwide. They are vinyl-faced, plush toys with distinctive ears, eyes and teeth.
This has led to cheap, imitation products flooding the market, many of which fail safety standard tests.
The cabinet member for safety in the community added: “Counterfeit toys are not just illegal, they can be dangerous.
“These dolls were found to have small parts that could easily detach, posing a serious risk to children.”
The council advised anyone with concerns about counterfeit or unsafe goods to contact the Citizen’s Advice consumer helpline.
It also urged traders to ensure they source products through properly licensed suppliers.
