Jules Kounde and FC Barcelona extend contract to 2030

Agreement reached between FC Barcelona and the player Jules Kounde to extend his contract with the Club until 30 June 2030.

Club and player set to formalise the agreement in the presence of president Joan Laporta soon.

The Frenchman has become a fixture at right back and is a hugely important for Hansi Flick with his limitless energy and drive up the right flank for FC Barcelona. Solid in defence and good at combining in attack, Kounde was the hero of the Copa del Rey win against Real Madrid last season.

This will be the fourth season for Kounde in blaugrana. He arrived from Sevilla for the 2022/23 season, with his attacking and defensive potential while at the Andalusian club providing firm grounds for joining the Club. He has gradually become a favourite with the fans and has made the right back position his own.

Game after game

Kounde arrived at Barça as a centre back, a position he has also played for the blaugranes, but he has now become the starting right back. A position he has played game after game. His reliability meant he didn’t miss a match across a significant portion of the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons, making 86 consecutive appearances from 25 November 2023 to 19 April 2025, more than any other player in the squad.

Playing games became routine for Jules Kounde, who accumulated 53 appearances last season. A regularity that meant he rose up the appearance list for French players in the history of the FC Barcelona. He is currently in fourth place with 141, with so much coming from those appearances, including seven goals and five trophies with FC Barcelona – two LaLiga titles, two Spanish Super Cups and one Copa del Rey.

Hero of the Copa del Rey

His late goal in the 2024/25 Copa del Rey final will remain long in the collective memory of FC Barcelona fans. A strong shot fired in after 116 minutes tipped the balance towards the blaugranes in the final against Real Madrid. An unexpected hero on that magical night, but an ever-present fullback in Hansi Flick’s plans.
