3 Big Cricketing Events To Have Occurred Since Babar Azam’s Last International Century

Here are three international cricket milestones achieved between Babar Azam’s last international ton and August 16, 2025.

Babar Azam, once compared to India’s Virat Kohli for the kind of skills he possessed with the bat in hand, is now finding ways to even stay in the playing 11 of the Pakistan national team. He is already out of the T20I set-up and was dropped from Tests too, making One-Day internationals his sole format of representation for the nation.

It was the only ODI in which he last scored a century. It came against a weak Nepal side in the 2023 Asia Cup. But that seems like a million years ago for the kind of form he has shown after that.

In ODIs, he has played 29 innings since his last ton and in T20Is, he has played 23 innings from the day he scored his last international century. In Tests, it has been 20 innings since his Nepal ton and yet Babar has not managed to touch the three-figure mark. This despite playing the likes of West Indies and Bangladesh at home.

Babar has had such bad luck that many of the things which were once thought to be unbelievable in the cricketing world have happened ever since his last international ton, but the former Pakistan cricketer is yet to touch the milestone again.

Here are three international cricket milestones achieved between Babar Azam’s last international ton and August 16, 2025.

India Won ICC Trophy After Gap Of 12 Years

India, both senior men’s and women’s teams, played six finals between 2013 and 2023, and yet they were unable to win an ICC trophy. However, they ended the 12-year drought after the Rohit Sharma-led Men in Blue clinched the T20 World Cup 2024 with a thrilling win in the final against South Africa.

South Africa Won ICC Trophy After Gap of 27 Years

South Africa, called the ultimate chokers of the cricketing world, finally ended the hoodoo of failing at the last hurdle as they not only made their first-ever final during the T20 World Cup 2024, but went on to claim their first-ever proper ICC title at their very next attempt.

The Proteas defeated defending champions Australia to win the World Test Championship 2023-25 in June 2025 at Lord’s.

India Got Whitewashed In Home Tests For The First Time Ever

Imagine an Indian team getting whitewashed at home in a three-match Test series. Can’t do that, right? Because it just seems impossible. However, it did happen as a New Zealand team, led by Tom Latham, did the unthinkable after they beat India 3-0, winning Tests in Bengaluru, Pune and Mumbai in 2024.
