Grammarly, the AI-based writing assistance tool, has announced eight new specialised AI agents designed to support students and professionals with different aspects of writing, including research, feedback, and originality checks.
According to an official blog post by the company, the agents are being introduced through docs, Grammarly’s new AI-native writing platform, which integrates assistance directly into the drafting and editing process. As per Grammarly, this update is the first stage of a broader redesign that will eventually make the agents available across the platforms where Grammarly is used.
The eight agents include:
- Reader Reactions, which predicts how different audiences may interpret a text.
- AI Grader, which provides feedback aligned with rubrics and coursework.
- Citation Finder, which sources and formats references.
- Expert Review, which gives subject-specific feedback.
- Proofreader, for clarity and style improvements.
- AI Detector, which estimates whether text is AI- or human-generated.
- Plagiarism Checker, which scans writing against published works.
- Paraphraser, which adapts tone and style.
Alongside the agents, Grammarly has added an AI chat feature for brainstorming and summarising within docs.
As per the blog post, the agents are available now in Grammarly Free and Grammarly Pro, with enterprise and education users set to gain access later this year. Some features, such as the AI Detector and Plagiarism Checker, will only be available to Pro users at launch.
