Millie Bobby Brown adopts child with husband Jake Bongiovi

Actor Millie Bobby Brown announced Thursday that she’s adopted a daughter with her husband Jake Bongiovi, the son of singer Jon Bon Jovi.

Brown, 21, revealed the news in a post on Instagram, saying the adoption occurred “this summer.” The “Stranger Things” and “Enola Holmes” star did not include the name of the child or any photos.

“We are beyond excited to embark on this beautiful next chapter of parenthood in both peace and privacy,” the post said.

The couple married last year, three years after going “Instagram official” as a couple in 2021. She said on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” that Bongiovi proposed while the couple were diving underwater together.

Brown was unable to vocalize her answer, or risk swallowing water, so she gave an OK sign with her hand instead.

“I think it was underwhelming but we freaked out,” Brown said.

In an interview earlier this year on the “SmartLess” podcast, Brown said that she and Bongiovi had hopes for a large family in their future. She noted to the hosts — actors Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes and Will Arnett — that her parents were 19 and 21 when they had their first child.

“Of course I want to focus on really establishing myself, as an actor and as a producer,” Brown said. “But I also find it’s so important to start a family, for me personally, it’s a huge thing.”

She explained that being a mother was something she always dreamed of and that the couple don’t necessarily care how that happens.

“For me, like, I don’t see having your own child as really any different in adopting,” Brown said. “I feel like … my home is full of love for anyone or anything.”
