Singer Perrie Edwards has announced her debut solo album, Perrie, which is scheduled for release on 26 September 2025. The news arrived alongside her new single, If He Wanted To He Would, co-written with Nina Nesbitt and The Nocturns.
The single, which leans on live instrumentation, explores a toxic relationship from the perspective of a best friend. Its accompanying video, filmed inside a palace, nods to rom-com classics including The Holiday, Bridesmaids, and Pretty Woman, and also features co-writer Nesbitt.
Alongside the new release, Edwards reflected on the personal journey that shaped her debut album. After launching her solo career in 2024, she paused work over the Christmas period to reassess her direction. “At the end of last year I was feeling so much pressure to release music and move quickly. I wasn’t happy and didn’t feel like the music I was releasing was right,” she told Apple Music’s Zane Lowe.
She credited therapy with helping her step back from industry expectations. “During one of my therapy sessions, my therapist said if you’re not happy just take away that pressure and stop for a bit. She was right and I decided to press pause on my music,” Edwards explained.
Returning to the studio in early 2025, she focused on writing material that felt authentic and close to her own experiences. “I absolutely love the album I have created and I’m really proud of it. This is the music I want to make and I’m super excited to release it to the world this September. I hope you love it as much as I do.”
The self-titled album marks Edwards’ first full-length project since pausing her solo work, featuring tracks developed over the past year.
