Becky Lynch Outclassed John Cena on Mic

Becky Lynch arrived at her hometown in Dublin, Ireland, for the latest episode of Friday Night SmackDown and absolutely dismantled the crowd on the microphone. Not only did she attack her home fans in front of a jam-packed crowd at the 3 arena, but her promo even placed her ahead of John Cena’s address to Logan Paul before their high-stakes encounter.

The Man received a hero’s welcome in the beginning; the crowd in Dublin was loud and gave a resounding applause to their home-grown WWE talent. Getting such a response from the fans has become a rare sight for Lynch, who turned heel following her WrestleMania 41 appearance. But what followed then was humiliation from Becky Lynch, as she took savage shots one after another, which showed Cena how a heel promo is done.

Becky Lynch started the show at the August 22 episode of Friday Night SmackDown and called out the Dublin crowd. She lashed out and stated that they do not deserve a live television opportunity in Dublin. The crowd does not appreciate the fact that she is their hero, and she petitioned to cancel the show backstage.

Her words irked WWE fans. They became louder and responsive after those words from Becky Lynch as she reinstated her heel persona in front of the Dublin crowd. While it was her words that made her promo amazing, the crowd work during John Cena’s segment with Logan Paul was the defining factor.

The babyface-turned Cena made his final WWE appearance in Dublin, receiving an outpouring of support from the crowd. The 17-time World Champion gave Logan Paul a lesson in respect, but his promo fell short on intensity and lacked a sharp, direct edge.

Instead of taking shots at The Maverick directly, Cena lashed out at the overall quality of competition he is expected to get from Paul at Clash in Paris. Given what he said on the mic and the resounding applause he got from the WWE universe, the promo became a great segment to watch as it progressed.

But Becky Lynch became the ultimate heel character in Dublin. After trash-talking the WWE universe, she joined forces with Nia Jax for the night to face Tiffany Stratton and Jade Cargill in tag-team action.

The Women’s Intercontinental Champion aimed to take down the duo and send a message to the Dublin crowd. Instead, what unfolded in the ring only deepened the crowd’s resentment toward her persona.

Inside the squared circle, the tag teams clashed with unwavering determination, each side intent on outshining the other. But just as the match progressed, it was evidently clear that the resolve of Stratton and Cargill was too much for Lynch and Nia Jax to overcome.

Becky Lynch shockingly had had enough. She simply picked up her title and abandoned the match while Stratton and Cargill attacked Nia Jax and pinned her out to win the match. Not only was the end disappointing for the more experienced group, but it also established the fact that Becky Lynch has transitioned to a heel completely for her second run in the WWE.

Becky Lynch Is a Better Heel Than John Cena During Her Second WWE Run

Becky Lynch was a prominent WWE superstar, rising the ladder of success and leaving the ring on a high note after relinquishing the title to announce her pregnancy.

However, ever since she returned to the squared circle as Lyra Valkyria’s partner at WrestleMania 41, she turned against the WWE universe, rebranding herself all over again as a heel.

She ditched and backstabbed her former friend Lyra Valkyria before setting her eyes on the Women’s Intercontinental title. She defeated Valkyria to win the title on June 7, 2025, at Money in the Bank, marking her first run as an Intercontinental Champion.

All of this transitioned perfectly for Becky Lynch. This new version of the Irish superstar is direct, confrontational, and doesn’t care about those who supported her in the past. She is desperate to prove her worth and get what she wants, no matter the consequences.

Compared that to John Cena, who recently turned heel after selling his soul to The Rock at Elimination Chamber 2025. Becky Lynch’s transition was on a completely different level.

Cena often broke character during his heel persona and even accepted later on that he bombed his first heel promo against Cody Rhodes. Lynch, on the other hand, is more calculated and knows when to take a fight and when the odds are completely against her.

Additionally, Becky Lynch brings a sharper edge on the microphone, making her a more compelling and polished heel in her second WWE run. In contrast, Cena struggled to maintain momentum as a heel, often losing direction like he did against Randy Orton during the go-home episode of Friday Night SmackDown before Backlash 2025.

With his retirement tour faltering, he was forced to revert to a babyface role before SummerSlam 2025 on August 1, 2025, to win back the crowd’s support.

Interestingly, Clash in Paris is right around the corner. Considering the manner in which she delivered this power-packed promo, it will be interesting to watch how Becky Lynch further works on her heel persona.
