Rounak Chouhan, Shriyanshi Valishetti win singles titles

Rounak Chouhan and Shriyanshi Valishetti won the men’s and women’s singles badminton titles, respectively, at the India Junior International Series 2025, which concluded at the Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy in Hyderabad on Sunday.

The 18-year-old Chouhan, the top-seeded men’s singles shuttler at the under-19 badminton tournament, defeated 16th seed Tankara Gnana Dattu Talasila 15-21, 21-13, 21-13 to claim the title.

Chauhan, 10th in the men’s singles junior badminton rankings, was the defending champion. He won the men’s singles title at the same venue last year.

Third seed Shriyanshi Valishetti, 15th in the women’s singles junior rankings, captured the women’s singles crown with a 21-12, 21-8 victory over Aikya Shetty.

For the 18-year-old Valishetti, 62nd in the senior rankings, this was her first title at a BWF tournament.

Junior world No. 1 Tanvi Sharma, seventh-ranked Unnati Hooda and Anmol Kharb (junior world No. 13) did not compete at the India Junior International Series 2025.

In men’s doubles, top seeds Bhavya Chhabra and C Lalramsanga edged Niranjaan G N Nandakumar and Yudhajith Reddy Padigepati 21-17, 14-21, 23-21 in a close contest.

Aditi Raj and Vriddhi Ponnamma secured the women’s doubles title by beating Keerthy Manchala and Varna Prabu Anand 21-13, 21-17.

The mixed doubles crown went to eighth seeds Mithileish P Krishnan and Varna Prabu Anand, who lost the opening game before rallying to defeat Vansh Dev and Shravani Walekar 21-19, 16-21, 21-15.
