Vanessa Kirby promises fresh new take of Sue Storm in ‘Avengers: Doomsday’

Vanessa Kirby opened up about the new approach she’ll take for Sue Storm in upcoming Avengers: Doomsday.

The Fantastic Four: First steps which was introduced as Marvel Cinematic Universe first family garnered great reviews and a $460 million box office haul so far, with the post-credits scene setting up the family’s continuation into Avengers: Doomsday.

In an interview with MovieWeb to promote her film Night Always Comes, Kirby addressed the future of Sue in Doomsday.

“I love that I get to continue with Sue because it’s so interesting,” Kirby said.

The First Steps ending saw Sue sacrificing herself to defeat Galactus, only to be reviewed by her new born son, Franklin.

According to Kirby, Sue Storm won’t just shrug off her death in new film, as that key moment will inform the character’s MCU future.

“I’ve been thinking a lot doing Avengers and stuff about how someone that’s been through, in the space of basically a week, someone who has given birth and has died and come back to life how a death experience like that would change you,” she said.

The Crown star also shared the methods she has undertaken to prepare for the role in Doomsday. The actress said that she’s been researching people who have had real near-death experiences and learning their experiences to use in her performance.

Kirby said, “I’ve been listening to a lot of people that have had those kind of experiences and what they learn, and therefore how different they are after they come back from that.”

The upcoming star-studded action packed film Avengers: Doomsday is set to release on December 18, 2026.
