Huawei has introduced its first smart TV under the Mate brand at an event in Shenzhen on August 23. The Mate Smart TV comes with a 110-inch mini-LED 4K panel, reaching 5,000 nits peak brightness and covering 91% of the BT.2020 color space.
The device runs on Huawei’s Kirin 9020 processor with 12 GB of RAM. It uses HarmonyOS 5.0, offering a home screen that looks like a smartphone with app icons and widgets. The system supports 4K interface rendering, high refresh rates, and a floating-touch layer for multi-finger input. Apps include streaming, social, and productivity tools through Huawei’s store.

Users can control the TV in three ways. A remote allows a cursor to move across the screen like a mouse. A stylus can be used for writing or drawing directly on the display, useful for presentations. A large multitouch trackpad supports swipes, taps, and gesture input, including “air tap” detection when a finger hovers above the pad.
The TV includes a 50-megapixel front camera for 4K video calls and portrait tracking. The camera also enables AI facial recognition that adjusts settings and recommends content based on who is watching. Huawei calls this feature “Knows You.”
For sound, the Mate TV uses a 3.2.2 channel HUAWEI SOUND speaker system. A dedicated Honghu Vivid image-processing chip improves color and contrast. The TV also supports cross-device sharing with Huawei phones and tablets running HarmonyOS NEXT, letting users hand off calls or video between devices. A two-finger floating touch gesture allows quick access to settings like volume and brightness.
Pricing & availability
Huawei says the Mate Smart TV will be released later this year. The TV is priced at 69,999 yuan (about $9,600).
