EIT Digital predicts growth in wake of financial independence

EIT Digital, one of the first innovation communities established by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), is planning to scale-up its activities after becoming financially independent from its parent organisation at the beginning of 2025.

“I like to think of this transition as a spin-off, one that remains faithful to our core mission and maintains close ties with the European Commission and its instruments,” said Federico Menna, chief executive of EIT Digital, in advance of an obligatory rebranding on October 9.

In addition to scaling up its open innovation ecosystem, EIT Digital will continue to work closely with the Commission and its agencies, Menna said. He also wants to see stronger alignment between the network and other innovation instruments such as the European Innovation Council.
