with a larger AMOLED display, signifcantly enhanced heart rate accuracy, and an intuitive user experience that adapts to structured training, racing, recovery, and everyday life.

Meanwhile, the new generation of Suunto Wing headphones keeps listeners fully aware of their surroundings while delivering clear sound, and when used together with the Race 2, now also real-time voice feedback directly from the watch. Together, these two devices represent Suunto’s commitment to enabling smarter training, greater resilience, and readiness to perform when it counts.

Recent research underscores the impact of music on training and performance. A 2024 meta-analysis published in Frontiers in Psychology confrmed that music improves endurance, lowers perceived exertion, and elevates mood. In studies with elite triathletes, synchronizing movement with music increased time to exhaustion by up to 20 percent. Among recreational runners, selecting music with the right tempo helped boost stride frequency and running economy while potentially lowering injury risk. Combining the motivational power of music with precise performance data, the Race 2 and Wing 2 deliver a comprehensive and inspiring training experience.

The case uses a refned combination of durable plastic and metal to reduce weight, complemented by a new back plate that supports Suunto’s most accurate optical heart rate sensor to date and an improved snap-in charging interface for greater ease of use.

The upgraded AMOLED display ofers vivid clarity, housed in a 49 mm case that is just 12.5 mm thick. The lighter build, 65 grams for composite models and 76 grams for stainless steel variants, makes the Race 2 suitable for training in any conditions, whether navigating technical trails, climbing in unpredictable weather, or tackling tough intervals on early mornings.

The Suunto Wing 2 adds music to the adventure while enabling full awareness of the surroundings with open-ear, bone conduction technology. Designed with a titanium and silicone frame, the headphones stay securely in place during high-intensity workouts, long runs, and daily commutes. The open-ear design helps wearers remain aware of their surroundings, enhancing safety in urban environments and remote trails alike.

Wing 2 connects directly with the Race 2 (and all other Suunto watches, except for the Run) to deliver real-time performance feedback through audible voice prompts, keeping key metrics like pace and heart rate accessible without the need to check the watch or smartphone mid-session. Gesture-based controls allow quick adjustments to playback or calls using simple head movements, while dual noise-reducing microphones maintain voice clarity for calls or smart assistant use.

About Suunto

Suunto is a Finnish brand, established in 1936. It was founded by Finnish inventor Tuomas Vohlonen, who pioneered a new standard for navigational precision. That same year, his innovation – a field compass – was stronger, steadier, and more accurate than any other handheld navigational tool of its time. It was the first of many Suunto products built to withstand the harsh conditions of our native Finland.

In the near century since, Tuomas’s spirit of innovation has continued to chart Suunto’s course. From some of history’s first dive computers and high-altitude wrist altimeters to today’s GPS watches, Suunto remains a trusted companion for outdoor adventurers across the globe.

Supporting explorers, athletes, and weekend warriors alike remains our core mission – providing the tools to dive deeper, climb higher, and push the limits of human potential.
