Naomi Osaka knows how to shine on the tennis court, and she took that to a new level at the 2025 US Open.
The Japanese star wore a custom red outfit covered in crystals on Tuesday (26 August), emerging at the Louis Armstrong Stadium with her headphones, jacket and hair accessories shining under the lights.
Two-time US Open champion Osaka, who was wearing a custom-made night session look in New York, breezed through her first-round singles match with a 6-3, 6-4 win against Greet Minnen.
“I designed this outfit a while ago, I’ll probably post a video about it later, but we tried it on last year,” Osaka explained of her eye-catching outfit in her post-match press conference. “It was really elaborate because the crystals are really hard to do on a performance outfit.
“I thought it would be really fun to do in New York under the lights, and I’m glad that my first match was a night match because this outfit was really fun to play. This is my night outfit, so hopefully I’ll wear my day outfit next time. It definitely was really elaborate. My hair was a little chaotic…obviously the outcome was way better than I imagined.”
