Founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Imran Khan has refused to accept the resignation of Salman Akram Raja from the position of the party’s secretary-general on Tuesday.
Salman Akram Raja announced in a media talk outside the Adiala Jail that the party’s founder and incarcerated leader, Imran Khan, has refused his resignation and urged him to continue as PTI’s Secretary-General.
He also said that PTI’s Political Committee will meet today to discuss policy regarding the upcoming by-elections. “All the decisions will be taken as per the founder’s directives,” he said.
Raja had announced distancing himself from the party’s secretary-general role on Monday through a tweet on X (Former Twitter).
He wrote that “an incident occurred that now demands a firm decision from me”. Sources claimed that Raja had a heated argument with Imran Khan’s sister Aleema Khan, and after that, he decided to quit the position.
Speaking to the media outside the Adiala Jail, Aleema Khan denied any dispute between her and Salman Akram Raja. She said, “We are like family”.
