The Hunting Wives bagged a prize in the week of July 28-Aug. 3: the most viewing time for any streaming series in the United States.
The spicy drama from Lionsgate TV and 3 Arts, produced for Starz before moving to Netflix, captured 1.58 billion minutes of viewing for the week, good for the top spot among all series and second overall behind Happy Gilmore 2’s 1.99 billion minutes. The Hunting Wives improved by 16 percent over its premiere week, and showrunner Rebecca Cutter also had another show in the top 10 — her Starz series Hightown, which drew 750 million viewing minutes a week after being added to Netflix.
Happy Gilmore 2 fell off by 31 percent from its record-setting opening weekend but remained comfortably ahead of everything else on Nielsen’s charts. Netflix’s summer phenomenon KPop Demon Hunters, meanwhile, hit a high in the United States for the fourth consecutive week with 1.1 billion minutes of watch time, up from 1.03 billion a week earlier.
After two big weeks of more than 2 billion viewing minutes each, Untamed fell by more than half in week three, logging 872 million viewing minutes. Netflix’s sitcom Leanne, starring Leanne Morgan, premiered to 690 million minutes. Hulu’s The Wonderfully Weird Weird of Gumball (a continuation of The Amazing World of Gumball that originally aired on Cartoon Network) premiered to 363 million viewing minutes.
Nielsen’s streaming ratings cover viewing on TV sets only and don’t include minutes watched on computers or mobile devices. The ratings only measure U.S. audiences, not those in other countries. The top streaming titles for July 28-Aug. 3, 2025, are below.
