Learn quantum computing basics at New Bedford Science Café Sept. 9

New Bedford Science Café will host a discussion on quantum computing from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 9. The event will take place at The Last Round Bar & Grille, 908 Purchase St., New Bedford, and is open to the public. Admission is free, except for beverages, according to a community announcement.

The guest speaker will be David Kagan, Ph.D., an associate teaching professor in physics at UMass Dartmouth. Kagan will explore the topic “Quantum Computing: A Revolution That’s Sure to Teach Schrodinger’s Cat New Tricks & Change the Shape of Industries.”

Quantum computing is a rapidly evolving field that promises to revolutionize various industries, including medicine, climate modeling and banking. Kagan will discuss the principles of quantum computing, the challenges in building these machines and the potential impact on technology.
