Mid-season wahala check-in – BBNaija

As Big Brother Naija season 10 reaches it’s halfway point, the housemates have revealed sides of themselves that only a few could have predicted. From initial game plans and declared habits to how they actually behave in the house, the transformation has been remarkable.

Let’s take a look at how they’ve changed since day one:

The Energetic and Bold

Rooboy entered with the promise of bringing fire, loyalty, and drama to the diary room, all while being unapologetically himself. Known for his bluntness, energy, and big vibes, he has consistently entertained while clashing with housemates like Imisi. His fascination with Thelma Lawson has sparked tension, and their jabs show that initial admiration doesn’t always translate to harmony. Rooboy remains loud, funny, and unfiltered – true to his plan, though friendships have been tested along the way.

Mensan came in loud and confident, expecting to be felt as much as seen. Initially, his bluntness rubbed some the wrong way, causing spats with Kyabobo, Sultana, Ivatar, and Joanna. His clash with Ivatar was particularly rocky, even leaving him feeling thrown off his game and confessing this to Biggie. Since then, he has calmed down, excelling in tasks and letting his skills and talents do the talking rather than arguments.

Bright Morgan arrived with confidence in his looks, brains, and acting skills. Known for laughing in serious moments, he ruffled feathers with Faith, earning a double strike early on. He has since found someone of interest in the house, Mide, though their budding connection is complicated by Bright Morgan having a relationship outside. Despite the challenges, he remains charming and game-focused.

The Playful

Imisi promised to be assertive and unfiltered, often narrating house drama. Her unique personality and character has had housemates questioning whether she is real or being strategic. Early clashes with Faith and Kaybobo – both questioning her intelligence – tested her resilience. Now, she has formed a strong friendship with Kola, repaired old conflicts, and continues to be honest and playful while navigating alliances.

Faith entered aiming to lead, stir, and impress. He frequently clashes with housemates accusing him of wanting to seem smarter than everyone else. This has led to friction with Thelma Lawson, Imisi, and Kaybobo, and some argue his intelligence-focused persona rubs people the wrong way. Still, he maintains close connections with Joanna and others, sharing knowledge and strategies while carefully navigating the social scene.

Isabella came in with the goal of showing the world who she truly is beyond Instagram glamour. Her flirtatious, wild energy has led to kisses with Kola and former housemate Kayikunmi, and playful interactions with Kaybobo. Isabella has also clashed with Thelma Lawson and Koyin over food distribution and other house dynamics. She remains bold, upfront, and unafraid to make waves.

The Romantic and Flirtatious

Dede arrived nonchalant, seeking attention and exposure. Three guys – Kola, Koyin, and Jason Jae – have shown an interest in her. She has grown closer to Kola, sharing moments that hinted at a kiss, while making it clear she has a boyfriend outside the house. She has kept Koyin and Jason Jae in the friend zone, balancing attention with personal boundaries.

Denari entered the house as a laid-back, low-key participant, hoping to take things easy while enjoying the experience. His calm and collected nature has remained consistent, making him a grounding presence amid the chaos. He has spent most of his time with Doris, nurturing a budding romance that has slowly become the centre of his storyline. Denari has also shown patience and loyalty, even when former housemate Gigi Jasmine expressed disapproval of his closeness with Doris. While he doesn’t seek drama, Denari’s quiet charm and subtle flirtation have made him an intriguing and steady figure in the house.

Doris came in single, independent, and ready to shake things up. She initially declared that relationships were exhausting and that she would rather stay single than deal with calculated romance. Fast forward to now, Doris has clearly softened as she has fallen for Denari, often seen sharing private moments and appearing genuinely affectionate. Yet, she hasn’t lost her competitive edge; in challenges, Doris is fiercely determined to win and refuses to be sidelined, making her a constant force in the house. Her fiery temperament was on full display during her explosive argument with Imisi over smelly sneakers, proving she hasn’t lost her edge when provoked.

Koyin arrived looking for fun and drama, hoping to be in the centre of attention and see how people react. He has remained the life of the party, always knowing the lyrics and dance moves during Saturday night sessions. Initially overwhelmed and emotional, he has since embraced the game, maintaining close bonds with Dede and flirtatious moments with Sultana. Despite claiming the house is a game and friendships are temporary, his playful banter and energy continue to make him a fan favourite.

Sultana came in seeking challenges and personal growth. She has balanced friendship and romance well, forming a strong bond with Doris and enjoying intimate, playful moments with Jason Jae and Koyin. While she has had disputes with Mensan and Ivatar, she has navigated them maturely and remains composed. Sultana’s adventurous spirit and willingness to engage in the house’s fun while staying focused on her personal goals make her a standout participant.

Tracy began as a reserved participant but quickly made her mark by winning the first female Head of House challenge. From a quiet observer, she has grown into a strategic, socially aware housemate who builds alliances and forms meaningful bonds, notably with Zita and Kuture. Her growth is seen in her ability to influence nominations, mediate conflicts, and assert herself confidently in the house, balancing her initial shyness with emerging leadership and loyalty.

Mide started the season quiet and observant, often on the sidelines. She has since grown into a confident and more outgoing housemate, forming a strong friendship with Dede and exploring her interest in Bright Morgan. She has carefully navigated tensions with Zita and others, showing that her initial reserve has turned into strategic social intelligence. Mide now participates actively in challenges, conversations, and alliances, blending caution with charisma.

The Grounded

Kola arrived with intentions to challenge perceptions and connect meaningfully. The “nice guy” approach has made him a favourite among housemates. He has grown close to Dede, sharing private moments, while maintaining a strong friendship with Mide, Imisi, and Bright Morgan. Initially friendly with Doris, he clarified boundaries when romantic attention arose. Kola continues to bring authenticity and class to the house.

Joanna joined to show her unfiltered self – bold, spontaneous, and occasionally defensive. Known for being the life of the party, she enjoys pool parties and Saturday night festivities alongside Koyin and Jason Jae. She has avoided romantic entanglements, focusing instead on forming close connections, particularly with Faith. Past clashes with Ivatar and Mensan have tested her patience, but she remains bubbly and resilient.

Zita entered ready to entertain, inspire, and evolve. Her early relationship with Danboskid ended when he was evicted, leaving her to navigate the house solo. Zita has struggled to form connections but has become close to Tracy. Clashes with Mide over kitchen disputes remain unresolved, and she has expressed disinterest in pursuing romantic connections in the house, despite others’ interest.

Thelma Lawson came in seeking money, business visibility, and a bit of fun. Bold, straightforward, and occasionally confrontational, she has clashed with Faith, Isabella, and others. Interest from Rooboy has not blossomed into a romance, and she maintains a clear head about relationships. Though her friendship with Isabella is strained, she remains a dominant, unapologetic presence in the house.

The Fun and Outgoing

Kuture is the life of the party, bringing energy and unpredictability. Though he once faced friction resulting in a strike, he remains sociable and humorous, connecting well with most housemates. Interest from Tracy has remained unreciprocated, as she only sees him as a friend.

Kaybobo entered the house with a passion for cooking and connecting with others. From day one, he wanted to inspire, entertain, and bond with housemates while showing his vibrant, educated, and determined spirit. He has maintained control in the kitchen, which has sometimes led to clashes with housemates over authority, yet he remains calm and friendly with those like Isabella. Kaybobo has formed subtle connections, sharing playful moments and mentorship with some housemates, showing growth from an overly assertive presence to someone more measured while still bringing charm and energy to the group.

Jason Jae joined for fun, fame, and funds. He won the first Head of House challenge and has flirted with Dede (friend-zoned) and Sultana (more intimate), while being a lively presence at parties. His over-explaining and passionate energy have made him both endearing and occasionally exasperating to housemates.

Ivatar came seeking connections and initially struggled to find her place. She had early clashes, notably with Sultana and Mensan, and briefly connected with Mensan before tension arose. Despite this, she has learned to coexist respectfully with the housemates, enjoying parties and social moments without forming deep friendships. Her growth lies in her ability to balance her need for interaction with maintaining personal boundaries, showing a quieter, more reflective side compared to her first-week energy.

Big Soso arrived determined to share her culture, creativity, and culinary skills while representing the North. She has consistently energised the house with her cooking and positive personality, staying true to her initial promise of nurturing others and being a bridge in the house. Her growth shows in how she balances leadership in the kitchen with diplomacy, managing to cook for everyone without letting her assertive nature overshadow her charm.

As we hit the halfway mark, Biggie’s house is a whirlwind of surprises, with housemates shedding facades and revealing exactly who they are. From fiery clashes and secret crushes to unfiltered confessions and unexpected friendships, the season is proving that in this house, nothing stays the same, and no one is playing it safe.
