Manny, Diego, Sid and Scrat are together again for a new era in the Ice Age franchise, as the upcoming sixth installment gets a major update at Destination D23.
During Saturday’s presentation at Disney‘s Coronado Springs Resort, Ice Age: Boiling Point was revealed as the title for the upcoming followup to Ice Age: Collision Course (2016), set to premiere Feb. 5, 2027 in theaters.
The sequel is described as “a dinosaur-and-lava-filled madcap adventure that takes Manny, Sid, Diego, Ellie, Scrat and the rest of the herd to visit never-before-seen corners of the treacherous Lost World.”
Nearly a decade after the last Ice Age feature, Disney announced Boiling Point was in production during D23 last November, with Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary, Simon Pegg and Queen Latifah reprising their voice roles.
Through five movies, the Ice Age pics have grossed $3.2 billion worldwide, but like all franchises, the weight of gravity weighs down at the box office with each sequel. The most recent movie, 2016’s Ice Age: Collision Course, grossed $408.5 million globally.
The latest Ice Age announcement came during Destination D23: A Journey Around the Worlds of Disney, at Coronado Springs Resort in Orlando, Florida, hosted by Yvette Nicole Brown.
