Huawei Was the Biggest Smartwatch Maker Globally in Q2 2025

Huawei recorded the highest number of global smartwatch shipments in the second quarter of 2025, overtaking Apple in overall market share, according to Counterpoint Research.

52% Growth

Huawei’s smartwatch shipments grew by 52% year-over-year, giving the company a 21% share of global shipments for the quarter. This performance positioned Huawei at the top of the global smartwatch market, surpassing Apple for the first time in overall units shipped.

Chinese Brands Leading

The global smartwatch market, which had experienced a downturn since early 2024, grew by 8% YoY in Q2 2025. Much of the growth was attributed to rising demand in China, which emerged as the largest contributor to global shipments during the quarter.

Other Chinese manufacturers also posted strong performances. Xiaomi saw a 38% increase in shipments, while Imoo recorded 21% YoY growth, further solidifying China’s influence on the global market rebound.

Apple and Samsung See Declines

In contrast, Apple and Samsung each experienced a 3% decline in global smartwatch shipments. Despite the drop, Apple retained its lead in the premium smartwatch segment, which includes higher-priced, feature-rich devices.

Counterpoint forecasts continued recovery for the smartwatch market, projecting a 7% overall growth for the year 2025. The report suggests that momentum from emerging markets and strong domestic demand in Asia will remain key factors in the sector’s expansion.
