While most of the royal family enjoys the last quiet days of summer with their holiday at Balmoral Castle in Scotland, Princess Beatrice is making major career moves.
On Aug. 29, Prince Andrew’s eldest daughter launched a new tech business with a World Economic Forum figure, per a Companies House filing, via Hello! She was appointed as the director of Purpose Economy Intelligence, Ltd., along with Spanish executive Luis Alvarado Martinez. They each obtained a 45 percent share of the company with the remaining 10 percent held by Beatrice’s private secretary, Olivia Horsley.

The big announcement also officially ended speculation that Prince William would consider moving his cousin up to a full-time royal role. The rumors about Beatrice’s possibly upgraded palace status started in 2024 while King Charles III and Kate Middleton battled cancer.

“I get the impression Beatrice and Eugenie are stepping up their charity work, and dropping subtle hints to the King that they would be willing to take on some royal duties if asked,” royal expert Phil Dampier told the Daily Mail in May 2024. “The King recently took over some 300 patronages from his mother and father, but it’s a big workload, especially as he’s battling cancer.”
“I think it could be arranged so that they [Beatrice and Eugenie] take on some non-controversial roles with worthy causes like hospitals, schools, and even the military,” he added.
Kate reportedly wasn’t a fan of the idea, and Prince Andrew’s constant controversies with Jeffrey Epstein and the Royal Lodge fiasco kept the idea at bay. Plus, there was the Prince Harry and Meghan Markle feud issue.
“For William and Kate, an alliance between Harry and Meghan and Beatrice and Eugenie is a huge worry,” Royal expert Tom Quinn told the Mirror in May 2024. “They sense that Beatrice and Eugenie feel that, as virtual outcasts themselves, they have far more in common with Harry and Megan than with any other part of the family.”
The royal family’s decision to keep Princess Beatrice on the palace bench was likely why she decided to make a career move. Her influence in the global tech and financial world is an important one, and she didn’t want to wait around for her cousin to promote or demote her.
