Birmingham has played host to two three-day music festivals, with thousands of fans attending.
The Moseley Folk and Arts Festival kicked off on Friday with The Waterboys and Libertines frontman Peter Doherty headlining.
Supersonic is also a three-day event, held in various venues in Digbeth, showcasing local and international alternative music.
Fans from around the world had travelled to Birmingham, attracted by the strong line-up, said Supersonic organiser Lisa Meyer.
Ms Meyer, who is artistic director of Capsule, said the festival, which had been running since 2003, said Birmingham “isn’t great at celebrating independent culture, so this almost happens in spite of the city,” she said.
“But what is amazing is that people come from all over the world for this festival, and we really support the artistic and cultural economy.
So it both inspires people that are working within that ecosystem, within the city, but also brings in people from outside as well.”
But, she added, it was becoming “incredibly tough” to find independent spaces to run it.
