Why former KPMG, EY and PwC directors are in investors’ firing line

Westpac and other powerful company boards are defying demands from a proxy adviser to remove directors who have a perceived conflict in the auditing of their financial accounts.

Institutional Shareholder Services said it was opposed to board directors who are former partners of a big four accounting firm sitting on audit committees if the external auditor is their former employer.
