HMD is reported to be planning a new budget smartphone that will likely be sold in India according to a new leak. The source has also provided the specs and price of the new smartphone which is said to be called the HMD Bold.
Posted on X by HMD_MEME’s (@smashx_60), the HMD Bold will have a 6.74-inch display with an HD+ resolution and a 90Hz refresh rate. The leak also reveals that the display is an IPS LCD panel. Like many of its entry-level smartphones, HMD will equip the Bold with a Unisoc processor.
The leak says it is the Unisoc T7200 which is a 12nm SoC with two Cortex-A75 cores clocked at 1.6GHz and six Cortex-A55 cores clocked at 1.6GHz. The chipset also has a Mali G57 GPU clocked at 650MHz.
The HMD Bold will be available in two configurations — 4+128GB and 6+256GB. It will also have a 50MP sensor as its primary rear camera paired with a 0.8MP secondary camera while the front will house an 8MP camera. The HMD Bold will have a 5,000mAh battery capacity with support for 20W charging.
HMD is expected to launch the phone in the fourth quarter of the year. According to the source, the HMD Bold will be available in Blue and Brown with a starting price of ₹7,999 (~$94/€80) for the base model and ₹9,999 (~$117/€99) for the 6GB RAM version with 256GB of storage. This will make it significantly cheaper than the HMD Crest 5G which is currently the most affordable smartphone the Finnish manufacturer sells in India. However, it will be facing stiff competition with rivals such as the Redmi A5 4G which is currently ₹7,498 on Amazon India.
