Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s lawyer, Chaudhry Zaheer Abbas, has said that the former prime minister has reaffirmed his decision that PTI lawmakers will continue to resign from parliamentary standing committees, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media after meeting the former prime minister at Adiala Jail, Abbas revealed that the session lasted 15 to 20 minutes only, during which several important political matters were discussed.
During the meeting, Imran Khan expressed deep grief over the destruction caused by floods in various parts of Pakistan, extending solidarity with the victims.
“Imran Khan instructed PTI leaders and workers to extend all possible assistance to people affected by the recent floods across Pakistan.”
He informed Imran Khan about the resignations submitted from the Public Accounts Committees as well as the symbolic session held outside Parliament earlier in the day.
“The chairman was fully supportive of the decision and maintained that PTI’s policy is to stay away from these committees,” Abbas stated, adding that Imran Khan has reaffirmed his decision that PTI lawmakers would continue to resign from parliamentary standing committees.
He remarked that the party founder was also briefed on preparations for a major political rally in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
While acknowledging that the recent floods had caused some delay in arrangements, Abbas said that preparations for the gathering were still underway.
Chaudhry further said that Imran Khan also conveyed sorrow over the loss of lives in the earthquake that recently struck Afghanistan’s Kunar province, describing it as a tragic event for the neighboring country.
