South Park returns this week, airing a fresh new Season 27 episode on Wednesday night that looks to bring back fan favorite Butters, Satan and yes, the new season’s long-awaited addition, President Trump, as it wades into the latter’s tariffs and how they impact the residents in the small Colorado mountain town.
In a brief promotional spot that Comedy Central dropped on Tuesday morning, viewers find Butters in hot water at the principal’s office. It seems that he’s been trying to get his hands on a Labudu doll as a gift for his girlfriend’s birthday. But then he runs afoul of … Trump’s tariffs. The following shot from the forthcoming episode has another unhappy couple — sweethearts Satan and Trump, who descend the staircase of Air Force One.
While the spot gives only a little to chew on or anticipate as Wednesday’s episode approaches, it still looks to be another unimpeachable blend of up-to-the-moment satire, the daily struggles of the kids and parents of South Park with biting, take-no-prisoners-and-pick-no-sides political spoofs. After all, it’s that combination that has propelled the series into its 27th season and helped the show smash its own record for ratings in the season premiere in August.
So far, Season 27 has seen an outcry of Jesus entering the local schools, a coupling of the sitting president with Satan himself and an outrage in the titular Colorado town that led to a lawsuit from Trump, which brought a “can’t unsee it” PSA for Trump, complete with a talking penis. And that was just the season premiere. Creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone have already lampooned ICE, Kristi Noem, Charlie Kirk, Chat GPT, the militarization of Washington D.C. and a lot more.
Expect the list of targets to get longer tomorrow night as one of the most vital shows on TV rages on like a pissed off Eric Cartman.
The next episode of South Park airs Wednesday night at 10 p.m. on Comedy Central and will be streaming after on Paramount+.
