Sandwich and cake shop set up in memory of Shrewsbury crash death teenager

“When you lose a child you just have to try and find some sort of hope and give yourself something to focus on,” she said.

The shop had been an idea for a while, she explained, because her son “had dreams of one day opening a little deli in town”.

It will support a charity she is in the process of registering called Shine on with Harvey.

Ms Owen said her son “just had a such a soft spot for anybody who was disadvantaged,” so she wanted to do something for other young people.

As well as donating money to a couple of local arts groups, the charity has paid for pottery classes, barbeque lessons, glass painting and art classes.

She said it aimed to give “disadvantaged young people to access music and creative activities, helping them build skills and confidence”.

Once Crystal’s Shine on Bakery becomes profitable, it will pass on money to the charity, including money raised through a monthly cake raffle.

It will also have information about the charity and how people could donate.
