Today’s Games:

Franz Wagner and Dennis Schröder lead the way for the German national team, which is coming off a victory in the 2023 FIBA Basketball World Cup. They’ve been customarily excellent so far in this EuroBasket tournament, averaging 21 ppg and 20.1 ppg, respectively, to spark the top-scoring offense in the tournament to date.

Lauri Markkanen has led Finland as they defeated Nikola Jokić and Serbia in the Round of 16 and Sandro Mamukelashvili and Georgia in the quarterfinals to reach the medal rounds for the first time in the country’s history. He’s third in tournament play with 24.7 ppg while adding 7.9 rpg, too.

Greece is led by the unique talents of Giannis Antetokounmpo, who has paced his team by with 28.9 ppg (which is No. 2 in tournament play). The two-time Kia NBA MVP and nine-time NBA All-Star seeks Greece’s third EuroBasket gold medal (it won the competition in 1987 and 2005).

Even with all this star power, Turkey’s Alperen Sengun has potentially been the best overall player in the competition.

Sengun is posting 21.6 ppg, 10.9 rpg and 7.1 apg — which ranks seventh, second and second, respectively, among all players — while serving as the pivot for a squad featuring current and former NBA players such as Cedi Osman, Shane Larken, Onuralp Bitm, Furkan Korkmaz, Omer Yurtseven and Adem Bona.
