The United States’ world leader Melissa Jefferson-Wooden won the women’s 100m title in a meet record of 10.61 at the World Athletics Championships Tokyo 2025 on Sunday (14 September).
Jamaica’s Tia Clayton clinched silver with a personal best of 10.76 while reigning Olympic champion Julien Alfred settled for bronze with a 10.84 at Tokyo’s National Stadium.
Jefferson-Wooden had the world’s fastest time in 2025 of 10.65 which she surpassed on this evening.
The previous world champion, Sha’Carri Richardson, came in fifth in 10.94.
Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, appearing in her final career major championship, was sixth in 11.03.
