TCL unveils new K1 smart door knob with AI-enhanced fingerprint unlocking

TCL has expanded its smart home accessory portfolio by launching its first-ever smart door knob, the K1. It is advertised as the first door knob of its kind that offers rapid biometric access and versatile locking modes. Build quality is the most important factor when it comes to smart locks, and the TCL K1 is crafted from aerospace-grade aluminum with a brushed nickel finish.

The smart door knob has a built-in fingerprint scanner that unlocks the door in under 0.3 seconds, providing secure and fast access without keys. You can store up to 100 fingerprints for guests, family, or office staff. Alternatively, users can also use other methods to unlock the door, including a mechanical key, a passcode, and an app. On top of that, TCL’s Smart Life App (Tuya app) also allows you to create a one-time passcode for visitors, Airbnb guests, or service staff.

TCL’s new smart door knob is also offers passage and private modes. The former mode keeps the door unlocked for uninterrupted access during high-traffic times, while the latter limits entry exclusively to administrators for added security. The smart home accessory is powered by 4 x AAA batteries, and according to TCL, it offers up to 12 months of battery life.

Furthermore, like other smart door locks, it also supports automatic locking. Speaking of dimensions, the K1 is quite compact, measuring 7.5 x 21 x 8 inches (2.95 x 8.2 x 3.1 inches) and weighing around 1.2 kg (2.64 lbs). Moreover, the door knob has IP53 ingress protection. Unfortunately, there’s no voice command support here.

As for price, the TCL K1 is priced at $79.99, and buyers can now purchase it directly via TCL’s official store and Amazon. Plus, it comes in a single silver-finish colorway.
