“2025 owes me nothing” after Tokyo fifth place

After finishing fifth in the women’s 100m final at the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan, U.S. star Sha’Carri Richardson is taking time to reflect on the year that was.

“2025 owes me nothing, but I am thankful for what this year has revealed and allowing the tone to be set for the rest of my life,” the 2023 world champion in the 100m wrote in a post on Instagram. “I am Sha’Carri Richardson and there is so much more to come, just wait and see.”

Fans won’t have to wait too long to see Richardson back in action. She’s set to be part of Team USA’s effort in the women’s 4x100m relay, where the finals are set for 21 September.

A silver medal winner in the individual 100m at Paris 2024, Richardson brought home gold in the sprint relay last summer at the Olympic Games.
