Lionsgate has revealed the official trailer and posters for the upcoming thriller The Housemaid, directed by Paul Feig and starring Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried.
Based on the best-selling novel, the film also stars Brandon Sklenar and Michele Morrone and opens nationwide in theaters on December 19, 2025. The movie has not yet been rated by the Motion Picture Association (MPA).
The Housemaid plunges audiences into a twisted world where perfection is an illusion, and nothing is as it seems. Trying to escape her past, Millie (Sweeney) accepts a job as a live-in housemaid for the wealthy Nina (Seyfried) and Andrew Winchester (Sklenar).
But what begins as a dream job quickly unravels into something far more dangerous — a sexy, seductive game of secrets, scandal, and power. Behind the Winchesters’ closed doors lies a world of shocking twists that will leave you guessing until the very end.

The film is based on the book by Freida McFadden and features a screenplay by Rebecca Sonnenshine. The cast also includes Elizabeth Perkins.
Lionsgate is presenting, in association with Media Capital Technologies, a Hidden Pictures / Pretty Dangerous Pictures production. The producers include Todd Lieberman, Laura Fischer, and Paul Feig (Another Simple Favor).

The Freida McFadden novel is officially described as follows: “Every day I clean the Winchesters’ beautiful house top to bottom. I collect their daughter from school. And I cook a delicious meal for the whole family before heading up to eat alone in my tiny room on the top floor.
“I try to ignore how Nina makes a mess just to watch me clean it up. How she tells strange lies about her own daughter. And how her husband, Andrew, seems more broken every day.

“But as I look into Andrew’s handsome brown eyes, so full of pain, it’s hard not to imagine what it would be like to live Nina’s life. The walk-in closet, the fancy car, the perfect husband.
“I only try on one of Nina’s pristine white dresses once. Just to see what it’s like. But she soon finds out… and by the time I realize my attic bedroom door only locks from the outside, it’s far too late. But I reassure myself: the Winchesters don’t know who I really am. They don’t know what I’m capable of…”
