Prince Harry tension with Prince William and Kate Middleton continues despite positive King Charles meeting

While Prince Harry has taken steps toward reconciling with his father, King Charles III, tensions with Prince William and Kate Middleton remain unresolved, according to palace insiders.

The Duke of Sussex, 41, met privately with his father, 76, last week during a brief four-day trip to the United Kingdom. Sources told Us Weekly that the meeting was “super positive and very relaxed,” sparking speculation that a thaw in their strained relationship could be underway.

However, insiders maintain that the Prince and Princess of Wales, as well as Queen Camilla, are still unwilling to move past past grievances. “There is still ongoing tension with William and Kate,” one source said, adding that the couple feels “deeply hurt” by Harry’s memoir Spare and his public interviews. They reportedly view the disclosures as breaches of trust that will require significant time to heal.

Despite being in the UK, Harry did not meet with his brother or sister-in-law, underscoring the rift. Sources noted there has been “no direct communication between aides” from both sides, unlike the outreach seen with Charles. “William and Kate haven’t initiated or responded to outreach from Harry at all. They do need more time,” one insider explained.

The distance is partly attributed to Harry’s comments about Kate in Spare, which reportedly left William “guarded” and hesitant to pursue reconciliation. “There are lingering resentments of past conflicts,” another source said.

Harry, who stepped back from royal duties with Meghan Markle in 2020, has defended his memoir, telling The Guardian it was “not about revenge” but rather about setting the record straight. “It is about accountability,” he said, adding, “My conscience is clear.”
