The Saudi Power Procurement Company (SPPC), the principal energy off-taker, has issued a request for qualification for new projects under the seventh phase of the national renewable energy programme.

The kingdom has set a goal of generating half its power needs from renewable sources by 2030.

The proposed solar projects include 1,400MW Tabarjal (2) in Al Jouf, 600MW Mawqaq in Hail, 600MW Tathleeth in Aseer and 500MW South AlUla in Medina.

The two wind projects are the 1,300MW Balghat and 900MW Shaqran in Medina.
