Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Thursday announced that his party will launch peace marches across all four provinces, vowing to unite the nation on a single platform for the protection of citizens’ rights.
Addressing a gathering, Fazlur Rehman said the planned marches were a continuation of his party’s long-standing campaign of peaceful protest. He accused the government of repeatedly stealing the public mandate in elections and stressed that JUI-F’s movement would continue until justice was secured.
On security matters, the JUI-F chief warned that “there is no real peace in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,” adding that governance had deteriorated to the point where courts and institutions were compelled to perform duties meant for elected representatives. He cautioned that, if necessary, his party could mobilise people from across the country and bring Islamabad to a standstill.
Turning to foreign policy, Fazlur Rehman expressed concern over divisions within the Muslim ummah, urging cooperation instead of rivalry to avoid leaving Muslim nations vulnerable. He noted that recent Islamic conferences had raised expectations but failed to deliver meaningful unity.
Welcoming the recent defence agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, Fazlur Rehman described the pact as a positive development, calling both countries capable of playing a leadership role in the Muslim world.
Reaffirming JUI-F’s commitment to national unity and the defence of public rights, he said if rulers failed to act responsibly, it would become his party’s duty to “steer affairs back onto the right path.”
According to party officials, the peace marches will begin in multiple regions, with plans to amplify the movement’s message from Chitral and Turbat to Kashmore and Karachi, signalling a broad mobilisation in the coming weeks.
