Law minister stresses alternative dispute resolution to ease case backlog in courts

Minister for Law and Justice Azam Nazeer Tarar has emphasized the need to introduce the alternative dispute resolution mechanisms among masses.

Addressing a ceremony in Islamabad today, he said mediation is being prioritized worldwide to resolve the public disputes because it saves time and resources.

He said Islam also teaches us the importance of peaceful means for settlement of disputes.

Azam Nazeer Tarar mentioned that around three hundred thousand cases are pending in high courts, while pendency in the Supreme Court is around sixty thousand cases.

The Minister said the government is taking serious steps to reduce the burden of cases in courts.
