Jessie Cave claims she was excluded from a Harry Potter fan convention due to her OnlyFans.
The actress, who played Lavender Brown throughout the blockbuster film franchise, revealed earlier this year that she was launching her OnlyFans page to create sensual hair content, but that it’s “not a sexual” account. However, Cave recently shared on her Substack that she was still barred from the convention.
“I found out that I didn’t get booked for a Harry Potter convention recently, as I’m now doing OnlyFans,” she wrote. “They explained it was because it’s a ‘family show and OnlyFans is affiliated with porn.’ This was baffling to me as some actors who do conventions (most actors, actually) have done TV and films in which they’ve done sex scenes and nudity. I’m just playing with my hair!”
While Cave feels she’s been “canceled” from some parts of the Harry Potter fandom, she knows it’s time for the next generation to take over the beloved story, with the TV series currently in development.
“I am not upset about the prospect of no more Harry Potter conventions,” she said. “There’s going to be a new cast now and it’s a different time. Plus, I have done conventions for over 15 years and have enough photos and wizard memorabilia.”
Cave recalled how some years, “the money I got from signing photos of my face was the only real money I made. I am very lucky I got to do them.” But she also acknowledged that “it’s time to move on and play some new characters.”
She played Lavender Brown beginning with Half-Blood Prince, as the character had an increased presence starting in the 2009 film as Ron Weasley’s (Rupert Grint) girlfriend. She also appeared in Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2010) and Deathly Hallows: Part 1 (2011).
Cave has also been candid on her Substack about her reasoning for starting an OnlyFans, saying it’s to help pay her bills and renovate her new house.
