It was recently revealed that the Galaxy S26 Ultra could have an AI-powered display privacy feature. Now, more details about it have been revealed. It will reportedly be powered by specialty hardware offered by Samsung Display, the South Korean firm’s display manufacturing arm.
Galaxy S26 Ultra could have Privacy Display feature
Tipster @UniverseIce claims that the Galaxy S26 Ultra’s display uses the Flex Magic Pixel feature, which was first showcased at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2024 expo last year. When activated, this feature hides the content on the screen when viewed from the side, allowing you to see what’s on your phone while preventing others (standing beside you) from seeing it, thereby preventing shoulder surfing.
It acts like a privacy screen protector, but it is built into your phone. You don’t have to buy it separately, and you can activate it on demand.
You can see how that feature works in Samsung Display’s official video below.
The folks at Android Authority and X user That Josh Guy were able discover strings related Privacy Display in One UI 8.5’s code. The feature “limits screen visibility from side angles to protect your privacy in public.” Moreover, related text strings also reveal that the feature could be set to turn on automatically when you are in a crowded place or when you are using sensitive apps like banking.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra could offer two settings: Manual and Maximum. When the Maximum option is selected, the display’s brightness is turned down when the Privacy Display is activated, which further improves your privacy. You can choose which apps are sensitive and even set a daily schedule to turn on the feature.
