A “Harry Potter” actor said she was barred from a convention for the series because she has an OnlyFans account.
In a Substack entry entitled, “Only Wingardium Nakediosa,” — Harry Potter fans, if you know, you know — Jessie Cave wrote about her hesitation to create an OnlyFans account to share content about her long hair.
“Back in January, I was so lost and afraid,” Cave, who played Lavender Brown in several Potter films, wrote. “I didn’t know how I’d pay my bills or if we’d be able to move into our new house.”
Now marking six months on the content-sharing site, Cave says it has helped her and her family settle into their new home, allowing them to afford to paint it, lay down carpets and build bunk beds for her children. But, she says, it has taken some opportunities away from her as well.
“I found out that I didn’t get booked for a Harry Potter convention recently, as I’m now doing OnlyFans,” she wrote on Substack. “They explained it was because it’s a ‘family show and OnlyFans is affiliated with porn.’”
Cave said she found this “baffling,” “as some actors who do conventions (most actors, actually) have done TV and films in which they’ve done sex scenes and nudity.”
“I’m just playing with my hair!” the actress and author wrote.
However, Cave said she is not upset about being excluded from “Harry Potter” events because the new “Harry Potter” series, starring a new generation of actors, is currently in production. The series is expected to premier in 2027.
“There’s going to be a new cast now and it’s a different time. Plus, I have done conventions for over 15 years and have enough photos and wizard memorabilia,” she wrote.
Cave is best known for starring as Lavender Brown in the wildly popular “Harry Potter” films. Brown was briefly in a relationship with Ronald Weasley, played by Rupert Grint, who fans know truly only had eyes for Hermione Granger, played by Emma Watson.
Since her time on “Harry Potter,” Cave has taken on many minor TV roles, and made her West End debut on the show “Arcadia.” In 2021, she published a book titled “Sunset.”
