After The Summer I Turned Pretty concluded its beloved three-season run on Prime Video, speculation is mounting about Taylor Swift’s potential involvement in the upcoming film adaptation that will finally wrap up Belly and Conrad’s love story. Fans think that Swift might write original music for the Summer I Turned Pretty film, though no official confirmation has been made yet.
Swift’s music has been integral to The Summer I Turned Pretty since it premiered in 2022. The finale caps a three-season run that has consistently used Swift’s songs as emotional punctuation: 23 tracks throughout the show, from “Cruel Summer” and “The Way I Loved You (Taylor’s Version)” to various tracks from The Tortured Poets Department. Needless to say, these musical endorsements have made Swift synonymous with the series’ romantic coming-of-age narrative.
In fact, the use of Swift’s music has been intentional from the outset. The show’s creator Jenny Han has deliberately woven Swift’s catalogue into the fabric of the story. From “Exile” to “Lover,” Swift’s tracks have provided the soundtrack to Belly’s journey and the complex love triangle that has captivated audiences worldwide.
While it might sound far-fetched for Swift to pen her own music for the film, it’s not entirely beyond the realm of possibility. In recent years, the star has written original songs for films including “Carolina” for Where the Crawdads Sing and “I Don’t Wanna Live Forever” with Zayn for Fifty Shades Darker. Who knows, Swift could even be eligible for an Oscar nomination for best original song if she contributes to the Summer I Turned Pretty film soundtrack.
The movie, which was confirmed on September 17, the day of the series finale, will be written and directed by Han, ensuring the movie stays true to the heart and soul that made the series a global phenomenon.
Han, who penned the original book trilogy, has been the driving force behind the show’s success, masterfully translating her beloved characters from page to screen.

“There is another big milestone left in Belly’s journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due. I’m so grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision for this story and for making it possible to share this final chapter with the fans,” Han said in a statement.
While specific plot details remain under wraps, the film will serve as the definitive conclusion to the series’ central love story.
