American tennis star Coco Gauff returns to the China Open in Beijing this week to defend her 2024 title.
The 12-day tournament is a WTA 1000-level event and is scheduled to run from 24 September to 5 October.
A year ago, Gauff, the current world No. 3 player, defeated Karolína Muchová for the title.
Her 2025 season has been up-and-down, highlighted by a remarkable second major title win at the French Open. But service issues followed, resulting in an early exit at Wimbledon.
She added biomechanics coach Gavin MacMillan ahead of the U.S. Open to help rework her technique. She lost to Naomi Osaka in New York in the fourth round.
