The US Department of Justice is closing in on an alleged cartel among crab purchasers – and now Chile’s competition watchdog believes it has caught similar conspirators in its own waters. Yesterday, the enforcer asked Chile’s Tribunal for Defence of Free Competition to levy $54 million in fines against several companies that it said colluded to fix prices paid to crabbers.
