The Mission-Safe Phone integrates advanced Push-to-Talk (PTT) capabilities with robust hardware for defense and public safety professionals.
Nokia announced the launch of its new Mission-Safe Phone, a secure smartphone designed for defense and public safety personnel, at the recent DSEI 2025 exhibition. The device marks Nokia’s significant return to the end-user device market with a focus on robust, mission-critical communications.
A core feature of the Mission-Safe Phone is its advanced Mission-Critical Push-to-Talk (MCPTT) functionality. This technology provides instant, secure, and prioritized voice communication over 4G/5G networks, operating alongside traditional cellular services. The system is engineered to meet stringent standards, including 3GPP MCX, ensuring interoperability and reliability for coordinated team operations in high-pressure environments.
The smartphone itself is built to military-grade standards (MIL-STD-810H) for shock, vibration, and extreme temperatures, and features an IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. Its secure boot process and hardware-level security create a trusted foundation, ensuring communications and data remain protected from cyber threats.
“This device answers the clear need for a single, ruggedized tool that combines the convenience of a modern smartphone with the guaranteed reliability of a mission-critical radio,” said a spokesperson at the DSEI exhibition. “It empowers frontline personnel with immediate, clear, and secure voice communication, which is paramount for mission success and safety.”
The Nokia Mission-Safe Phone is poised to serve armed forces, emergency services, and other organizations requiring guaranteed and secure group communication.
