As someone fascinated by the intersection of AI, wearables, and workplace productivity, I see Meta’s latest smart eyewear as more than a consumer gadget. At Meta Connect 2025, Mark Zuckerberg unveiled the $799 Meta Ray-Ban Display glasses, the company’s first AI eyewear with a built-in private in-lens display.
The glasses will launch on September 30 in the US, while professionals in the UK, France, Italy, and Canada will need to wait until early 2026 for availability.

Meta positions these as the first AI glasses designed for everyday use. At their core is the Meta Neural Band, a wrist-worn EMG controller that turns subtle hand movements into seamless navigation. Tasks like checking messages, translating conversations, or capturing a photo can now be done with a flick of the wrist — no phone required.
The private in-lens display, integrated into Transitions® lenses that automatically adjust to light, only appears at your command and vanishes when not in use. This allows wearers to remain engaged with their surroundings while layering in AI-driven insights and controls.

Capture and share: A 12 MP camera with 3X zoom lets you shoot and preview photos or video hands-free, using your lens as the viewfinder.

Alongside the Ray-Ban Display, Meta also revealed:
- Oakley Meta Vanguard ($499, Oct 21, US launch): Sport-focused glasses with 3K video capture, Garmin integration, and a rugged wraparound design.
- Ray-Ban Meta Gen 2 ($379, available now): A refreshed version of the original smart glasses, with double the battery life and 3K Ultra HD video recording.
