Robert De Niro Makes Cameo In Jimmy Kimmel Live’s First Episode After Suspension

Jimmy Kimmel Live! is back on TV, in all its glory. The show returned to the air following the controversy over the host’s comment on activist Charlie Kirk’s assassination. In his opening monologue, Kimmel became emotional as he clarified his remark. The episode also featured a special appearance by Robert De Niro.

The veteran actor-filmmaker pretended to be the new chairman of the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC). After taking a jibe at The View host Whoopi Goldberg, he spoke to Kimmel about free speech.
The host went, “Pardon me for saying, and maybe you’re the wrong guy to talk to, but it seems like the FCC is using mob tactics to suppress free speech.” He also mentioned being fined for using swear words.
Reacting to this, De Niro went, “What the f*ck did you just say to me? I am the f*cking FCC. I can f*cking say whatever the f*ck I want.” He added that free speech isn’t free in America and the FCC “charges by the word” now.
When asked how that works, the actor responded, “Depends on what you want to say. Like if you want to say something nice about the president’s beautiful, thick, yellow hair or how he can do his makeup better than any broad, that’s free. But if you want to do a joke like he’s so fat he needs two seats on the Epstein jet, that’s gonna cost you.”
While Disney has brought back the Kimmel show, several local TV stations have opted not to broadcast it despite the lifting of its suspension.
