Red Line BRT may take two more years to complete: Sharjeel Memon

Sindh’s Senior Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that the Red Line Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) project could still take up to two more years for completion.

He assured that problems faced by the public will be resolved within the next four to six months, particularly the issues along University Road by early next year.

Memon explained that delays were mainly due to shifting of utility lines, including gas, water, and K-Electric services, from the BRT route. He added that the Sindh government was actively engaged in addressing these challenges and had directed the Karachi Commissioner to monitor progress on a daily basis.

Criticizing the nine-month caretaker government for inaction, the minister said material price hikes after the contract signing had also hampered progress.

“I apologize to the people of Karachi for the inconvenience caused by the BRT project. We are working daily to address issues and intend to complete it as soon as possible,” he said.
