Tokyo Game Show kicks off with largest lineup yet

The Tokyo Game Show (TGS), one of the world’s largest video game trade fairs, opened Thursday with a record 4,157 booths and 1,136 exhibitors, more than half of which are from overseas.

Launched in 1996, the event’s theme this year is “Unlimited, Neverending Playground,” to reflect the more than 1,200 titles on display. It is being held at the massive convention center Makuhari Messe in Chiba Prefecture.

The first two days of the four-day event are reserved for those in the gaming industry, followed by public admission over the weekend. The event will be streamed across platforms including YouTube, X, Twitch, TikTok and Niconico, as well as China’s DouYu and BiliBili.
