London’s tram network shut down by power failure

London’s tram network has been shut down by a power failure, Transport for London (TfL) has said.

The widespread issue, which began early on Thursday morning, is due to a loss of power at the Therapia Lane Depot.

Mark Davis, general manager for London Trams, said: “All services on London Trams are currently suspended due to a power supply issue.

“We’re sorry for any disruption this has caused to our customers and are working at speed with UK Power Networks and our operator to safely reintroduce services as soon as possible.”

The tram network is based in south London and runs from Wimbledon to New Addington, Elmers End and Beckenham Junction.

Tram tickets are being accepted on local bus services and train services operated by South Western Railway, Southern, Thameslink and Southeastern.
