Spotify is back in the DJ-software game with new integrations

Spotify pulled its support for third-party DJ apps back in 2020. However, hot on the heels of launching its new mixing feature for users, it has buddied up with three companies in the DJ-software space again. Spotify Premium subscribers will now be able to get at their libraries and playlists from tools made by Rekordbox, Serato and Djay if they live in one of the 51 countries where these integrations are going live.

In its own announcement of its deal, Serato outlined some of the restrictions involved. “Playlists cannot be created in Serato, only in Spotify,” it explained. “No Serato Stems support. No offline storage. No bulk track analysis. Personal, non-commercial use only.” Rekordbox’s announcement also hinted at the latter restriction with its reference to “whether you’re practicing at home or playing for friends and family”.
